Upload a file
Choose an import type and upload a CSV or Excel file to begin validation.
Uploading a file is the first step after you choose what kind of data you are importing.
Choose an import type
From Imports, start a new import and select the type that matches your file:
| Type | Use when your file contains… |
|---|---|
| Products | Product catalog data — names, SKUs, brands, prices, quantities, images, etc. |
| Stock quantities | On-hand inventory counts by store or location |
| Min-Max quantities | Replenishment minimum and maximum thresholds |
| Store Min-Max | Store-level min/max settings |
| Customers | Customer records (when enabled for your workspace) |
Choosing the correct type ensures Import Ready validates against the right rules and shows the appropriate columns in preview.
Supported file formats
- CSV (
.csv) — comma-separated values with a header row - Excel (
.xlsx) — first worksheet is read automatically
Your file should include a header row as the first line so columns can be matched in the next step.
Upload your file
- Drag and drop your file onto the upload area, or click to browse.
- Wait while Import Ready reads the file.
- When processing completes, you are taken to Match columns.
File preparation tips
- Keep column headers short and unique — duplicate header names cause mapping problems.
- Remove blank rows at the top of the sheet before uploading.
- For large files, upload may take a minute. Stay on the page until you are redirected.
- Use UTF-8 encoding for CSV files with special characters.
What happens after upload
Import Ready:
- Detects columns from your header row.
- Prepares a column-matching screen.
- After you confirm mappings, runs full validation on every row.
Tip: If you are unsure about column names, upload anyway — you will map headers to the correct fields on the next screen.
