Edit rows
Change cell values inline, edit images, and understand how edits are tracked.
Inline editing lets you fix individual cells directly in the import preview grid without returning to your spreadsheet.
Edit a cell
- Open Review data for your import.
- Click the cell you want to change.
- Type the new value or choose from a dropdown (for fields with predefined options).
- Press Enter or click outside the cell to confirm.
The cell updates immediately in the grid. Affected validation issues may clear right away if the new value is valid.
Field types
Different columns behave differently when editing:
| Field type | Editing behavior |
|---|---|
| Text | Free-form text input (name, description, SKU, etc.) |
| Number | Numeric values only — invalid characters may be rejected |
| Select / dropdown | Choose from a predefined list (e.g. status, category) |
| Image | Opens an image picker to set or change a product image URL |
Image fields
For product image columns, clicking the cell opens an Image picker dialog where you can:
- Enter or paste an image URL
- Preview the image before saving
- Clear an existing image
Confirm your choice in the dialog to apply it to that row.
Unsaved changes
Every edit is tracked locally until you save. When you have pending edits:
- An Unsaved changes bar appears at the bottom of the screen
- The bar offers Save changes and Discard
See Save & discard for the full save workflow.
Edits and validation
After saving, Import Ready re-validates affected rows. Error and warning counts on the toolbar and import card update to reflect your changes.
If a fix introduces a new problem (for example, clearing a required field), a new error appears — check the issues panel to locate it.
What you cannot edit in normal mode
Some operations require special modes:
- Changing the same value across many rows → use Bulk edit
- Removing rows → use Delete rows
- Adding missing products → use Add a row
Tip: After fixing a cell, watch the issues badge — if the error count drops, you are on the right track.
