Minimum columns for a clean inventory update

If you are mainly updating stock for existing variants, ensure these are correct:

  1. Variant SKU — unique identifier Shopify can match
  2. Variant Inventory Qty — numeric on-hand quantity
  3. Variant Inventory Policydeny or continue
  4. Variant Inventory Tracker — usually shopify

Missing policy is a frequent Admin failure. See inventory policy is not included in the list.

Workflow

  1. Download a template from Upload a file or start from a Shopify export
  2. Match columns so Shopify headers map to Import Ready fields
  3. Fix issues in import preview
  4. Export Shopify product CSV from Download & export
  5. Import the file in Shopify Admin (test a small batch first)
