Use this guide as a practical Shopify inventory / product CSV checklist. Import Ready exports a Shopify-oriented product CSV you can upload in Shopify Admin → Products → Import.

Minimum columns for a clean inventory update
If you are mainly updating stock for existing variants, ensure these are correct:
- Variant SKU — unique identifier Shopify can match
- Variant Inventory Qty — numeric on-hand quantity
- Variant Inventory Policy —

Missing policy is a frequent Admin failure. See inventory policy is not included in the list.
Inventory by location
The Stock quantities template uses Shopify-style Location, SKU, Quantity headers (not Store). Use it for on-hand updates per warehouse or retail location. The free Compare inventory tool matches the same SKU independently per Location/Store when those columns are present.
Workflow
- Download a template from Upload a file or start from a Shopify export
- Match columns so Shopify headers map to Import Ready fields
- Fix issues in import preview
- Export Shopify product CSV from Download & export
- Import the file in Shopify Admin (test a small batch first)
